If you drop a chunk of clay in water, what will happen?

1. Fill the pan 3/4 of the way with tap water.
2. Have each team member use one piece of clay. When working with the clay, keep it on the newspaper to keep your desk clean.
3. Squish the clay into a ball. Drop it into the water. What happened?

4. Take the clay out of the water and dry it off. Every time you take it out of the water, dry it off to keep it from getting too gooey.
5. Try forming the clay into different shapes to see if you can find a way to make it float.
