Sound can bounce off of things like walls or mountains. Because sound travels sort of slowly, we might hear a sound and then hear it again after it travels to the wall, bounces off and comes back to us. This, of course, is an echo. Some animals use echoes to find out where they are.
1. Each partner takes one ball. One partner holds the ball next to the seat of your chair. Drop the ball and catch it. Be sure that you just let it drop - don't throw it at the floor. If you need to, practice this a few times until you can catch the ball.
2. The other partner carefully stands on their chair and holds the ball as high as they can. Drop the ball and catch it. If you need to, practice this a few times until you can catch the ball.
3. When you are both ready, get your balls in their starting position. Have one partner count 1-2-3-go! Drop both balls at the word go. Say "Done!" when you catch your ball. Which ball gets caught first?
