MISSING PIECES

What You Need

1 index card
1 push pin
1 pencil with eraser
1 pair of scissors
1 sheet of dinosaur parts
tape

What You Do

1. Make your "cardosaurus" out of the index card. Start by folding the card in half to find the center. Then flatten it out and make a hole along the fold with the push pin. Wiggle the pin to make the hole a little larger than the pin.

2. Cut out the neck and legs and tape them on at the corners of the index card as shown.

3. Lay the pencil flat on your desk with the eraser hanging over the edge. Put the push pin through the hole in the cardosaurus and pin it into the eraser.

4. What happens to the cardosaurus?

5. Try to straighten out the cardosaurus by giving it a tail. Which tail do you think will work best and why?

6. Cut out the tails and tape them on one at a time. Be sure to take all of the tape off the cardosaurus when you remove a tail.

What sort of body might go with tail D? Draw a picture and explain why you choose this type of dinosaur.
